About
Living Pictures is a sector-leading theatre training organisation that focuses on providing creative and professional development for theatre makers less represented in the arts. It was founded in 1999 by Elen and Robbie Bowman to provide training in Active Analysis and Meisner technique for directors and actors. In 2014, the organisation acquired a piece of land in Wales where it is now primarily based, which marked a shift in the organisation’s focus towards environmental and community initiatives, retreats alongside professional theatre training and stage productions.
Project
Coed Dylan is a five-acre site that neighbours the Woodland Trust’s ‘Green Castle Woods.’ Founded in 2014, it was built from recycled theatre sets, wood from building sites and donations by local tree surgeons normally bound for landfills. Initially used to provide workshops and retreats, the project’s focus has since shifted and is now focused on supporting creative learning and development for young, neurodivergent and culturally underrepresented artists. As associates, Living Pictures will research and develop an expansion of Coed Dylan’s offering, alongside curating a series of training workshops with industry-leading directors at LPS throughout 2024–2025.
