Seeding

Space

Performance devised by Elina Akmetova, curated by Ghost and John, photographed by Jeffrey Choy.

Seeding Space is a residency initiative that invites artists to explore an idea for a creative project. Participants receive one week of access to one of our studios, with the opportunity to organise a small sharing of the work developed at the end. Since 2021, this initiative has awarded over 100 free space bursaries to more than 250 artists.

Since 2024, Seeding Space includes mentoring, fundraising training and a small production budget.

Seeding Space can support most disciplines and formats within visual arts and theatre, with the exceptions of music, dance and movement due to acoustic and spatial restrictions. The bursaries are aimed at artists who would like to test an idea, so proposals focussed on ticketed events will not be considered.

Seeding Space 2025 is supported by Arts Council England.
