Fish Bone in Thumb, Cabinet Closed by James Jordan Johnson
Fish Bone in Thumb, Cabinet Closed is a performance that calls upon and conjures imaginaries to conceive of tactics for survival in an economy that treats everything as replaceable. From the incremental to the largesse, the piece uses physical expression or gesture as a way to release and heal.
DEAD DAD DEATH CULT by Samra Mayanja
Which actor would you choose to play your ‘DAD’ in an ongoing-never-ending-durational performance called ‘LIFE’? In a ridiculous pursuit for connection, HOLLLIDAY auditions a group of actors to do just that. DEAD DAD DEATH CULT is a playful exploration of paternal absence with a sizzling undercurrent of malaise. It’s giving laugh-cry-laugh-cry...laugh? Expect tightly woven chaos, a toybox of surreal voices and one very oblivious lead. All DADs welcome and no participation required. Written and performed by artist-writer Samra Mayanja.
Spitfire by Zahra van Nguyen
Spitfire is a durational movement piece that fluidly translates self-defence, confrontation, intimacy, and weakness in a theatrical context. Taking a single body in space, and using lighting, props, the weight of the body, resistance and speed of movement, the piece aims to personify the punching bag, creating a conversation between body and environment - flesh vs concrete - a fight.
