Empowering the

Performer’s Body

Workshop

Empowering the Performer’s Body is a workshop series that centres on the empowerment of the performing body on and offstage: a fusion of movement practices that ignite the actor to make dynamic and rich physical choices with ownership. By bringing the performer into attention and awareness of impulse through exploration of Viewpoints, 5Rhythms, and sensation, these workshops aim to open up the vast creative options they can explore when embodying a story in performance. The aim of these workshops is to empower; the self-annihilation of some conservatoire training has no place here. Through this work, the hope is that the performer can be within and at the heart of their craft, feeling autonomous and powerful in the embodied decisions they make.
