About
Alexander Fahima (he/him) is a German-Iranian artist and theorist working in the field of audio-visual narration between opera, Cinéma vérité and installation. Recent projects include a collaboration with German performance collective Rimini Protokoll at Oper Wuppertal, co-direction for the first staging of Charles Gounod’s Faust at the Salzburg Festival and artistic direction of the concert installations In Between and In Between 2: Cabin in the Woods at the Philharmonie de Paris. In 2021 he presented his opéra concrète On Reading #foucault’s #lusagedesplaisirs feat. a very slow #bohemianrhapsodyremix [aka The Rules of Attraction], which combined a queer Berlin house party with a live performance and a subtitled Wagner libretto.
Project
During his time as an associate, Fahima will collaborate with local primary school children to turn London Performance Studios into a pirate ship, reimagining Benjamin Britten’s version of The Golden Vanity with costume, props and set design workshops. The project will be researched and developed for presentation at LPS in 2025.
